Product Introduction
Talemod DC Surge Protector (DC SPD) is a critical protective component designed specifically for DC electrical systems. Its core function is to protect precision electronic devices in DC power supplies and prevent them from being damaged due to transient overvoltage caused by lightning strikes or internal switch operations.
Core functions
Voltage monitoring and rapid response: During normal operation of the DC system, surge protectors (SPDs) are in a high impedance state and will not have any impact on the circuit. When an abnormal transient voltage surge occurs in the circuit, the protector can respond within nanoseconds and quickly switch to a low impedance state.
Energy transfer and voltage clamping: After switching to a low impedance state, the surge protector will direct dangerous surge currents into the ground, preventing them from flowing through the protected equipment. At the same time, it will clamp the voltage (i.e. residual voltage) at both ends of the line to a safe preset value - this value is called the voltage protection level (Up), ensuring that the voltage borne by the equipment is always within a safe range.
Automatic recovery and status indication: When surge energy is transferred and the line voltage returns to normal, the surge protector will automatically recover to a high impedance state.
Main features of the product
Maximum continuous operating voltage (Uc): refers to the maximum DC voltage that a surge protector can safely and continuously withstand. This value must be higher than the maximum operating voltage of the system.
Nominal discharge current (In): represents the standard capability of surge protectors to withstand 8/20 microsecond waveform lightning current pulses, and is a key indicator for measuring their performance.
Voltage protection level (Up): refers to the peak value of residual voltage after being limited by the surge protector. On the premise of meeting the maximum continuous operating voltage (Uc) requirement, the lower the voltage protection level (Up) value, the better its protection effect on the equipment.
